The purpose of the Citizen of the Year Award is to recognize an individual who has made significant civic contributions to the development and quality of life of this community through his or her personal volunteer effort. Their actions, by their very nature, serve as a model to those presently involved in community affairs and inspire others to bring about a better business climate and quality of life for Bryan-College Station. To be eligible for consideration for this award, the nominee
- Must have his or her principal place of employment in Bryan or College Station.
- Must presently reside in the community, having lived here for a minimum of five years.
- Must have exercised leadership in a number and variety of organizations and community activities over multiple years.
- Must be of high moral character.
- Must have a record of stability.
- Must have long tenure; lifetime achievement award with consistent community service.
